Ironically, I originally cancelled this service two or three years ago. I completely forgot about it until I saw this charge on my card. After Googling it, I found this awesome site full of other people who got shafted and immediately filed a claim with my credit card. Thanks for the information guys and gals. It's reduced my rage significantly.

Hi Michael - The customer service number for international support is +1 858-636-7652. They are there from 6am - 6pm Pacific Time. I'm guessing they should be able to take care of you, but have no personal experience working with Road Runner's international channel. Please reply back and tell us how it goes!

I just checked their website and the terms are not hidden too terribly bad:

Your VIP membership renews annually so you won't miss out on all your savings or get bombarded with renewal notices. You may change this option at any time. Your VIP dues will be charged to your credit/debit card on file. You can cancel this option at any time. Introductory membership rates are valid only for your first year, and renews at the standard low price.

I think the tactic you'd have to pursue is due to the lack of a renewal notice. It doesn't seem like Visa / MC / AmEx rules allow them to charge you for something without an invoice. Especially in the case where you are not receiving any goods or services at the time of the charge.

How do they continue to get away with this? It's March and this outright theft is ongoing. Once I get my refund, I will be researching how to report this to try and nip the practice in the bud. Better Business Bureau is my first stop. Any suggestions?

Same problem.

I just received a RRSports catalog & thought I'd search to see if others had the same auto renew problem. What pissed me off is not only they auto-renewed me (i probably didn't read the very fine print) but they didn't use my original credit card that I had signed-up with the VIP program. They used a card that I had made a purchase at their store but by no means gave ANY authorization to use as auto-renew or to keep my credit card information on file.

I did get my $$ back but I have very little respect for Road Runner Sports business practices and have not returned.

My debit card was charged 4 days ago and I became suspicious when my wife said she does not remember purchasing anything for $24.99. I then Google-searched 8009019207 and this article showed. I don't remember authorizing the store for this charge for a running shoe purchase I made last year. RRS has a discount tie-up with our city high school track team. Thanks so much Mike.

I had the same problem too- I googled them. Found this- you guys are such a great help!!! I called RRS, confronted them about this and I am getting a refund in a few days! This is outrageous! I don't shop there that often and was never told that there would be a annual fee after the first year just as well!?? Thanks for the heads up!!! :)

***Hopefully RRS will continue afterall because I love their sneakers/products- what a shame! :/

I also got the $24.99 charge from Road Runner Sports. I didn't authorize this charge and had to look up the phone number to find out what the charge was for. The LEAST they could do is send you an email to let you know they are going to charge before they do to allow you to opt out.
